Little miracle

28 May 2003 - 11:20 p.m.

One of middle sister's friends got rushed to casualty on Sunday, suffering from severe stomach pains.

They took her up to have tests and examinations, and they told her that she may be pregnant. Yes, it could well be an ectopic pregnancy (the baby develops in the fallopian tube instead of the womb).

This shocked her, as she was not prepared for a pregnancy.

She was rushed away to another part of the hospital, as it was not an ectopic pregnancy after all... She was in labour.....

Her healthy baby boy was born, weighing in at 6lbs 4oz, shortly afterwards.

This came as a big, big, earth-shattering shock for a while, and she is still getting used to the idea of being a mother. I doubt she will have great problems with his care, as she is great with children.

There are people who are skeptical about this type of situation - but this is proof that it does happen. Nobody had realised she was pregnant, not even her. She had put on a bit of weight, but she has always been fairly large anyway. It was nothing out of the ordinary. She still bled once a month, so no clue there. Her appitite did not change much at all either. And yet she is now a mother. A role totally unprepared for.

I can not imagine what must be going through her mind right now, but she has people around her that will help her through these times. She is a lovely girl, and now she has her beautiful son.

So much to take in... So little time to adjust...

Wait, go back a bit! - Onward ho!

E 's hugs
