Domesticated

16 April 2015 - 5:46 p.m.

I have spent my day off today in house mode.

The lawn has been mowed.

The washing line has been re-erected. Sadly, I did not realise that there were brambles in the ivy around the telegraph pole, and they bit as I brushed past.

Washing was done. Whilst hanging it out, the line snapped, coating the lot in fresh grass clippings... As it snapped, the wire caught my arm on the way past - ouch! A lovely straight tear down my right forearm.

The guinea-pig wars (a.k.a. claw clipping) were ferocious but over now for another few weeks with any luck. You guessed it - I have jagged gashes all down my arms as testament to my persistence and survival. I look like a self-harmer.

I put the pigs out in the run for a while, and now they are back in the hutch for the first time since they scared the shit out of me by bolting for both doors. The same almost happened again with Apollo, the shitbag! He is completely feral, and even hates his own litter mate being too close to him, especially if he has food in his gob. It is sad. Artemis on the other hand is a lovely soul, and although he won't abide being picked up, he talks to me and doesn't mind being fussed in the slightest. I am leaving them out for a night and pray it will be easy...

I took a break as mum was walking the dog by, not realising I'd be home. She asked if I'd like to pop by for a mug of tea, so I did. I also got proffered treacle-roasted gammon rolls too. I repaid her by tidying the pond considerably, weeding the peony and tying in loose branches of the wisteria. The wisteria is just coming into bloom and I have never seen so many buds on one plant before - it's going to smell like heaven! I think I've finally cracked the pruning.

At the cottage, I spent a phenomenal amount of time hoovering the bungalow and dusting ( - dusting being something I don't do very often...). The amount of stuff that came up was just disgusting. I think it every time, but it all looks so much better now!

Now there is a bank of sea fog rolling in, and so in comes the washing...

Wait, go back a bit! - Onward ho!

E 's hugs
