How the other half live

06 December 2015 - 6:21 p.m.

He stayed here Thursday night so we could get away early on Friday. The journey wasn't too bad, and we found the venue fine. It was full of people in smart suits, so I felt distinctly out of place, but we checked in and went up to find our room.

A few strings had been pulled, and not only did we have the most GORGEOUS, fully-beamed room but there was a rather large arrangement of blue and white flowers that now sits in my kitchen.

The black tie do was okay, but I did feel a little like a fish out of water, what with meeting a LOT of new people and all... Some of his colleagues are truly lovely, the others I didn't interact with. He made an effort to always include me, which was nice. I did spy someone with baby pink hair, so wasn't the only one to stand out at least!

The food was nice, and we both felt sick come the end of the night - turns out 5 courses is more than enough...

The live band was great, but not so much the disco. There was a magician who avoided us like the plague for some reason, and a casino had been hired as added entertainment. I gave my chips to him and he did amazingly well, raking in the biggest winnings of the night. We decided to leave the game, so lost it all at once in Blackjack. The croupier reached over and shook his hand.

Unfortunately for me, the lack of sleep and feeling overfull left us not doing much that night. I could have killed him come morning though, as I now have another black-as-night blemish on my neck, which my staff spotted straight away today despite being concealed rather well...

When we left, we stopped off for a bit of shopping at a traditional Christmas market, and then killed a few hours in the cinema. Considering I've not been able to get into any of the Bond films with Daniel Craig, I found Spectre actually rather good.

Last night there were a lot of confessions, bits of our back stories, plans for the future and excerpts from bucket lists. He also said that he loves me... It turns out that he's been watching me for a few years, whereas I noticed him but he was never really on the agenda what with my being engaged and all... I still don't know how I feel about that especially since I have residual barriers up anyway, but I trust him, he's a genuinely wonderful guy and we share the same interests and sense of humour.

I'm going with it.

I am now sat here, on my own, taking a break from decorating the tree. Time for a vat of tea...

Wait, go back a bit! - Onward ho!

E 's hugs
