It seems that awesomeness can run in families.
Last nights rain caused flash flooding (again), and as usual the culverts were silted up.
After sizing up the damage, Mum and I decided to go for a walk. We stopped to unblock a drain across from our garden. The water had dragged silt and leaves from the woods. We unsilted the drain, and made a dam to direct the water to it.
One down, and so the entrance to the drive was next. More silt dams, more drains unblocked.
We then couldn't stop. Oh no.
7 more culverts later, and the road cleared! Only a few places we couldn't deal with, as the drains were blocked below the road. However, we made it fully passable, and it made us feel good!
A few of the drivers nodded to us in recognition, which was nice.
Then Highways turned up... Hahaha!
So, instead of catching up with a friend and going to a craft fair, we made the most of a crappy morning.
More rain to come though...
